hours) The tour covers the main areas of interest
in the city - the colourful market and shopping bazaars,
the historic areas like the Parliament buildings and
Mausoleum. Some time is spent at the renowned
National Museum, where there are spellbinding displays
of early man, tribal regalia and flora and fauna of
Kenya. The tour also includes a visit to the adjacent
Snake Park.

hours) Just a few kilometres from the city, bomas
or traditional homesteads reflecting Kenya’s cocktail
of cultures have been faithfully recreated for visitors
to see village life. An entertaining afternoon display
of traditional dances and folk songs from the better
known tribes of Kenya completes the visit.

for all 'Out of Africa' fans. Includes a visit to the
Karen Blixen Museum, former home of the authoress of
the book Out of Africa, where we immerse ourselves in
the past life of the settlers at the beginning
of the century, and can take a walk in the beautiful
gardens with a spectacular view of the Ngong Hills.
We then visit the Giraffe Centre, a sanctuary
for the rare and beautiful Rothschild Giraffe. We can
take photographs and even feed the giraffes and
the resident warthogs. We end the tour by visiting the
bead and pottery factory at Kazuri and shopping for
souvenirs at Utamaduni.

lovers, this is a great insight into the work of Kenyan
Artists who use traditional African materials and styles
to design cloth and jewellery as well as sculptures
based on authentic artwork. The places visited include:
- GEMINIS
– Producing elegant amber jewellery, Samburu crested
and coral and engraved in silver and antique Eastern
Africa jewellery, Ethiopian jewellery and crosses, and
crosses, Tuareg jewellery and an elegant combination
of African arts and designs, with each piece of jewellery
having its own history.
- KIOKO
– One of the most renowned and creative contemporary
artists to emerge on the Kenyan scene. Absolutely
original traditional Kenyan sculptures in animals and
human figures using iron and scrap metal. There
you can get to see these artists working on their figures.
- KIKO
ROMEO – One of Kenya’s prominent designers presenting
a collection of outfits imaginatively created using
first class materials, combining the colour of African
traditional wear with modern design. She has recently
had her work featured on International TV’s Fashion
Channel to such acclaim. She is working with local
groups in an effort to improve their product quality
for the international market.

LAKE
NAIVASHA EXPERIENCE Depart at 0800 Hrs and drive
through the scenic Mau Escarpment and down to the Rift
Valley Floor, to the papyrus fringed Lake Naivasha.
After a relaxing time and morning teas, have a boat
ride on Lake Naivasha, viewing the rich variety of birds
and plants, herds of hippos and a visit to the Crescent
Island, a curious peninsula with herds of antelopes.
Lunch is at the Lake Naivasha Country Club. In
the afternoon visit some weaving and carving workshops.
Return to Nairobi at around 17.00hrs.

COLOBUS
MONKEY SANCTUARY AND TEA/ COFFEE PLANTATION Departing
Nairobi at 08.00 hrs descend down towards Subukia, a
few kilometres from Nakuru town to arrive at the farm.
After delicious tea at the plantation, visit the
Colobus Monkeys Sanctuary – one of the few places these
animals can be seen whose black and white ‘coat’ has
been the cause of their endangement. After the
sanctuary visit, have a tour of the plantation and get
a lecture on how tea / coffee is grown, picked, processed
and parked for export. After a sumptuous barbeque
lunch, visit a satellite village of the people who work
at the plantation and contemplate the mode of life of
different traditional cultural groups. Return to Nairobi
at 17.00hrs.

followed by a visit to the National Museum and the Snake

followed by lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant just adjacent
the Nairobi National Park and renowned for its barbecued
meat (including a variety of game meat) cooked on huge
spits. In the afternoon have a relaxed time at
the Bomas of Kenya, where homesteads reflecting Kenya’s
cocktails of cultures have been faithfully recreated
for visitors to see traditional village life. The
greatest excitement during the afternoon is the display
of the traditional dancing, music and songs performed
in the splendid arena.

with lecture on history, a walk in the forest and tea

the afternoon visit the Riuki Cultural Centre learn
and experience the traditions and ways of life of the
Kikuyu people, a large Bantu group from Central Kenya.
Activities here include lecture, inspection of
homesteads, tasting the traditional food and enjoying

NAKURU NATIONAL PARK Dep:

early morning drive out of Nairobi and down the escarpment
into the Great Rift Valley. The 2-hour drive passes
through highland farms of the Kikuyu people, before
descending into the dramatic landscape of the Rift.
Drive past the extinct volcano – Mt. Longonot
– to arrive in the Nakuru National Park – an ornithologist’s
paradise, the home to a variety of plains game, larger
herds of buffalo, rhino and a variety of predators.
The day is spent driving around the Park with
lunch at a Lodge located in the park and a chance to
relax and enjoy the views over the lake. The return
journey to Nairobi stops at Lake Naivasha for tea among
the yellow acacia trees and a fantastic array of bird
life and arrives in Nairobi just before sunset.

SAFARI: MASAI MARA KENYA AND SERENGETI TANZANIA Dep

light, glide gently towards the sky on your race with

you for signs of life. Celebrate this unforgettable
experience with an exciting ice cold, champagne bush
breakfast in the middle of the African savannah.

IN LAKE VICTORIA: RUSINGA & MFANGANO ISLAND Dep
: 06.30 hrs. (6 hours). A short flight
from the Mara transports you to the largest fresh water
lake in Africa. Not only famous as the provider
of the meandering Nile, but also the place where you
are most likely to catch a 150lbs Nile Perch or see
a large variety of bird life. Watch the Fish Eagles
as they swoop down gracefully to pluck fish out of water.
The excursion lasts for about half a day - a truly
special day which has to come to an end all too soon.
