A reasonably
gradual trekking in Mount Kenya to the
summit, on which unless it is your
preference you do not need to camp since
there are, manned mountain hut positioned
strategically at the overnight stops. This
hike is usually rated as the easiest among
the short trips and is quite popular with
persons attempting to reach an altitude
exceeding 4000m for the first time. It is a
good choice for large trekking groups as it
follows the same trail up and down. This
makes it convenient for those who are unable
to reach the summit to stay behind at lower
camps to wait for the rest of the group to
complete the trip then descend together.
NB: These
itinerary is just as practical if approached
from Naro Moru or Chogoria routes in Mount
Kenya.

phase, hike up to Likii North(3900m) in
approximately 4hours to spend the night in
tents and proceed on to Shipton’s the
following day involving another 4 hours of

directly to Shipton’s and spend an extra day
there relaxing or walking around the peaks
for acclimatization. This would mean adding
on an extra day or two to the regular
itinerary.
