Situated on the beautiful white sand stretches of Matemwe Beach, on the north east coast of Zanzibar Island lies the Zanzibar Beach Hotel & Resort. Protected by a natural coral reef and surrounded by the crystal blue temperate waters of the Indian Ocean. Located a mere 45 minutes from the main airport, the resort has been carefully constructed around the island's natural features to blend harmoniously into the beach wilderness.
Located on the north-east coast of Zanzibar, an island on the east coast of Africa, about 60 kilometres from Tanzania's principal port of Dar es Salaam. High-speed ferries regularly call at Zanzibar from Dar es Salaam, as well as inexpensive commuter flights from the domestic terminal of the Dar es Salaam airport. The hotel is a 35 kilometre drive on a good tarmac road from Stone town.
Situated just six degrees south of the Equator, Zanzibar enjoys a typical tropical climate - lovely warm weather and pleasant sea breezes that gently carry cool air off the Indian Ocean. The archipelago islands of Zanzibar experience ideal holiday weather for most of the year, with the exception of April and May which are subject to seasonal rains. There are also slight showers, which fall during the month of November. Being near the equator the islands are generally warm all year round, however, summer and winter are officially recorded in December and June respectively.

Room dcor: 12 of our Standard Rooms, each with twin ¾ beds, are designed and decorated to exude a true taste of Zanzibar life. The rooms are built and dressed in coral rag with terrazzo floors, giving them a unique feel that literally blends into the landscape. Each unit has a built in writing or vanity desk and an open private balcony the remaining 24 Standard Rooms, again with twin ¾ beds, are decorated in typical Zanzibar style. They include locally hand made features, polished stone floors, built in writing or vanity desks and an open private balcony, which completes the ambiance of comfort and convenience.
The luxury rooms are Large enough to accommodate 2 adults in twin double beds and 2 children on twin single futons, which convert to lounge chairs when not in use. Each Chalet is tastefully decorated to include local features. The hand carved double entrance doorway leads off a spacious covered balcony, furnished with cushioned out door relaxers, creating a perfect place from which to absorb that famous Zanzibar sunset, over the ocean, sun downer in hand. Each room has its own bar fridge, which may be stocked from the main bar at your request.
The honeymoon room is situated almost on the beach and discreetly separated from the rest of the resort, offering the ultimate in privacy. From 2 large covered private balconies one may easily get the feeling of being on one's very own deserted island. Traditional hand crafted double doors lead off the balcony into spacious accommodation, complete with Zanzibari styled dcor. Features include an extra length king size bed, lounge and an oversized ' berazzo ' stone bath, boasting a stunning 180 degree vista of sand and ocean which may be enjoyed while sipping on that glass of ice cold bubbly.
Four superb villas overlook the resort and afford panoramic views across the ocean. Each have been tastefully decorated and furnished in typical Zanzibar style. Consisting of three twin bedded, en-suite bedrooms, a lounge and dining area, which opens onto your own private sundeck complete with Weber barbeque and sun lounges.
Room amenities: Standard features include air conditioners, ceiling fans, mini bar fridges, hairdryers, coffee/tea making facilities and mosquito netting. Irons and adapters are available.
All accommodation is en suite with showers except the honeymoon/executive suite which features a berrazzo stone bath.
A back up house generator system ensures continuity of electrical supply, available plug points are of S.A 15 amp standard, but international adapters are available on request. The resort management will be happy to advise on, or accommodate if possible, any additional requests.

If youre looking for a good time, Fat Harrys beach bar and snack-bar is the place to be. Its set beneath a thatched roof with a sunken bar and beautiful deck stretched out over crystal blue waters. During the day theres no shortage of scenic views, as you sit back and enjoy a few cocktails and evening time is party time! Fat Harrys is open from 10am until late.
