Speke Hotel
Speke Hotel is named after the famous British explorer, John Hannington Speke, pictured to the right, who 'discovered the source of River Nile. Speke Hotel is the first and oldest hotel in Uganda, built in the British Colonial times of the 1920s. It has, of course, gone through renovations, but has maintained its colonial ambience. The hotel has 50 ensuite rooms which all have the modern luxury facilities that one would expect.There are also several themed restaurants (including Italian and Indian) and one of the best cocktail bars in Uganda.
The Hotel is situated in the heart of Kampala, close to the banks, shopping and business centres, and offers all the charms of bygone days complimented by efficient, modern service and facilities. It is the coolest place in town with an open lounge, pool tables, live music and dancing, wines and spirits from all over the world. Don't think of going anywhere else for your Friday and Saturday nights! Rock Bar is easily accessible for all patrons and has ample parking.
Mammamia Pizzeria and Restaurant is our Italian-style restaurant. Managed by Italians, it specialises in preparing fresh pizzas, pastries, pastas and continental food, plus takeaways. Khyber Pass is our Indian-style restaurant. The story of the real Khyber Pass is composed of great colour, romance, tragedy and glory, but we bring you Frontier Cuisine - classic and exciting recipes of Frontier Tawa Tandoor (Clay Pot) cooking, prepared by our renowned chefs for your complete satisfaction. Come and experience our tandooris, kebabs & rotis!
The Piano Bar is open from 10.00 pm until morning, from 11.00 pm to 12.30 live piano is played everyday. Drinks, meals and snacks are available. Continental/English Breakfast is served from 6.00 am to 10.30am. Enjoy our wide range of delightful pastries.
