The Haven is located approximately 20km Northwest of Jinja Town on the west bank of the River Nile (GPS: N 00° 32,561' E 33° 05,375'). Just over an hour drive from Kampala, 3 hours from Entebbe International Airport.
The journey from Jinja is simple, taking about 20 minutes with private transport and approximately 1hr by matatu at a cost of U$ 1.5. From here you can hire a 'boda-boda'. From Jinja Town turn right at the 'Nile Brewery' just beyond the 'Owen Falls Dam' and head towards Kayunga. Continue on this road for approximately 15km until you are directed right by our sign. From there, only a 3km journey on a good murram road, even accessible without a 4x4, will lead you to The Haven.
The buildings are made of natural materials, earth colours and the influences of local worker/artists all combine to create an undeniably African style. Everything was designed with the environment in mind. The use of solar power, solar heating, septic tanks and rainwater catchments all create an eco-friendly atmosphere. 24 hours electricity available without any annoying generator noise.

There are many things to do at The Haven. You could either choose to relax in the comfortable surroundings of our River Lodge or you could partake in the many activities that we provide here. Why not:
The River Nile is good for Yellow fish and Nile perch. You can rent some tackle for a small fee at the bar and give it a try down at the rapid. Or you can rent the boat incl. equipment and guide.
Why not spend a day watching the local birds and wildlife around the camp and on the islands. See if you can spot the easily recognisable white headed 'Fish Eagle'. You can also hire a boat for a bird cruise on the river. Even monkeys, otters and monitor lizards are pretty common.
Explore the beautiful islands in a traditional African Canoe.
This stretch of the river is free of Crocodiles and Hippo's but still swim at your own risk.
Witness the villagers' traditional and simple lifestyle, which has changed very little throughout the past century. Spot the fish traps and fishermen at the rapids and watch the locals work the field.
Relax with a drink. Watch the wonders nature. Witness the dramatic colour change of the sky on our river sunset cruise.
Reflect on the day's events in front of our "African TV".
