Ikoma Bush Camp

The camp is small, comfortable and secluded. Ikoma Bush Camp has the concession for the area to operate night game drives and guided game walks, an unique experience as Ikoma Ideally situated along the path of the migrating wildebeest between Kenya and Tanzania. There you will find yourself on probably one of the best game drives in the area - along the western corridor of the park, taking in Kirawira and the Grumeti river - home to the infamous wildebeest-eating giant crocodiles. There is no better place to take in one of the world's greatest wildlife spectacles.

LOCATION: Ikoma Safari Camp is a small, semi-deluxe tented camp situated three kms from the Ikoma Gate of the Serengeti National Park, at its north-eastern border. The Ikoma area covers approximately 450 sq kms, and is a buffer zone to the Park itself. Fort Ikoma is 17 kms to the west and is now the headquarters of the Serengeti National Park. The camp works in close collaboration with the local villages. The airstrip, a short distance away from the camp means you can be with us in next to no time and avoid the long drive through the park should you prefer a shorter journey.

Hotel Details

NUMBER OF ROOMS, AMENITIES & DECOR: There are ten spacious tents, all having twin beds and attached bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. Each tent has its own en-suite bathroom, modern furnishings and a private verandah.

Cool bush-thatched roofs, also providing the very useful verandas, shelter all the tents. The entire tent is netted, so that, even though there are almost no insects around, they are insect-proof.

RESTAURANTS & BAR: The central restaurant and bar (a typical "Out of Africa" traditional styled grass thatched bar and dining room) boast a large fireplace - an ideal spot to unwind with a drink after a long days exciting game viewing.

The dining tent is complete with candlelight, glasses, and a bar with beer and wine. Fresh bread is baked every day and soups are made from scratch with homemade stock. Supplies of fresh fruits and vegetables are available. Menus can be custom-designed around your favorites. Excellent South African Wines are available, as are sodas, soft drinks, beer and some liquor, and are personally selected to compliment meals.

OTHER FACILITIES & SERVICES:
Electricity and hot water is supplied by 12V solar power. There is an inverter for recharging batteries

The Camp is located just outside the national park boundary it is possible to do night drives and guided game walks. The night drives are a unique opportunity to see some of the nocturnal animals that one usually only hears about, such as Leopard, Aardvark and Bat-eared foxes. Learn and experience first hand the sounds of the African bush at night - a very different 'creature' from the one seen during the day! A game walk with a ranger is an incredibly exciting and safe way to experience the bush and its inhabitants at close range.

Choose an early morning walk followed by breakfast in the bush or sundowners at the close of the day.
