Olonana Camp

This elegant and exclusive safari lodge has an enviable position right on the Mara River, over which thousands of wildebeest cross during the annual migration. The Camps unique setting offers a world of remarkable opportunities for safari adventurers. In addition to big game viewing in the Masai Mara Reserve, visitors are offered a rare glimpse of the day-to-day lives of the Maasai people in the adjacent Maasai village or 'engang'. No other lodge in the Mara offers such a close cultural experience with the Maasai.

Location

Olonana Tented Safari Camp is just on the outside of the Masai Mara Reserve's western boundary, which enables it to offer the best of both worlds, with night drives and walking safaris as well as game-drives within the reserve. You can fly or drive into the Masai Mara and it is 4½ hours by road from Nairobi.

Climate

Warm days average 24°C with cooler nights. June - July are colder months average 18°C and March - June have long rains while October - December short rains.

ROOM DCOR: Each tent is tastefully appointed with two comfortable queen-size beds, ensuite bathrooms with showers, and large, river view verandahs. Enjoy a quiet evening drink, cozily seated on your verandah, watching the hippo frolicking just before heading out for their nightly grazing. 

 

ROOM AMENITIES: en-suite bathrooms with hot water shower, shaver plug and hair dryer.

Food & Drink

The chefs will delight you with exquisite cuisine, which can be served al fresco perched on the Siria escarpment overlooking the Mara plains or as a picnic deep in the bush. Or you can sink into the comfortable sitting area with some books from the camp's library lounge, and then enjoy a delicious dinner in the dining room overlooking our private section of the Mara River.
