:: Swimming with Dolphins
-
Dolphin Dhow:
Swimming with the Kenyan dolphins is the
grand prize of a day on the best
excursion on the coast of Kenya.
-
-
A dolphin swim depends on a calm sea
and dolphins in a playful mood -
fortunately a common scenario. We are
facilitators in nature's realm so each
trip is a unique experience crafted
from the day's ingredients. Some
things remain constant, however, - the
stunning beauty of coral islands
carved by the warm waters of the
Indian Ocean, A magnificent coral reef
(that many have compared with the
Great Barrier Reef and the Red Sea),
Dolphin Dhow's romantic sailing dhows
and their friendly crews that delight
in tending to your every whim, and an
exotic Swahili lunch served
"al-fresco" on board in a tropical
island cove.

General information:
The dolphins off the East Africa coast
are part of the sub-species Tursiops
truncantus aduncus, whose distribution
area is the Indo-Pacific Ocean as well
as the Red Sea. They can measure up to
3.40m in length witha weight of up to
350 kg, pale grey on the back
and flanks, the stomach is white and,
in the oldest dolphins, dotted with
grey patches. They generally eat fish
and small cephalopods.
-
- The
most commonly known of these cetaceans
are the dolphins of Shark bay in
Western Australia that have already
woven links with Aboriginal fishermen
for several generations. Nowadays
interactions between humans and
dolphins are regulated by Australian
government rangers due to large-scale
tourism development that is becoming
dangerous for the dolphins.
