The Amboseli airstrip can also be used, with daily flights from Nairobi.)

DESCRIPTION: Porini is Swahili for “in the wild” and Porini Camp offers one of Africa’s most authentic camping safaris in one of the wildest destinations in Maasai country. Porini is one of the original success stories of Kenya’s burgeoning community conservation movement. Located in the selenkay conservation area, a 15,000 private game reserve within a vast tract of land owned by the kisonko clan of the maasai people. It is set up along the lines of the traditional hunting safari bush camp, so there are no permanent structures like a restaurant or swimming pool. It is a real camping experience in the bush, though with a much more comfortable bathroom experience than what was available to the hunters of the olden days. The camp is small and exclusive, accommodating a maximum of 12 guests. The camp is staffed by members of the local Maasai community apart from the management couple who act as the hosts.

NUMBER OF ROOMS:  6 spacious guest tents.

Room Décor & Amenities:
The guest tents are comfortably furnished and with en suite bathrooms including a bath and a traditional bucket shower, wash basin and flush toilet.
Tents have solar-powered electric lighting; each tent has a double and a single bed, they are also large and airy.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE FACILITIES:  The main dining tent has comfortable chairs, though most meals are taken outside under the shade of an acacia tree and after dinner, guests sit around the campfire and listen to the sounds of the African Night, whilst on game drives picnic lunch is offered. The staff can also organize for a sundowner on Olosinkiran Hill.

Amboseli is famous for its large herds of elephants and is close enough to be included in a morning or afternoon game drive.
